De-clutter – go round your home with a box and remove anything that shouldn’t be there; newspapers, shoes, piles of paperwork etc.
Kerb appeal – first impressions count! Mow your front lawn, sweep away leaves, move kids toys and your dustbins.
Bed sheets – freshly laundered, ironed bed sheets make all the difference to a bedroom. Neutral is normally best and pick out your best set.
Towels – swap your bathroom towels for some soft fluffy ones. Again neutral is normally best – think ‘hotel luxury’.
Accessorise – a few well-placed accessories can transform a room. The best style is to go for a neutral backdrop with some splashes of colour. For example, if you have a magnolia room then a few red cushions and accessories will give it a whole new look.
Remove evidence of pets – unfortunately not everyone will be a pet fan! Move pet bowls, litter trays and their beds out of sight for your professional property photos
Lighting – unless it’s an extremely sunny day, turn on lamps, wall lights and downlights around the house.
Flowers – go and grab some greenery from the garden. A few vases of flowers around your home will give it a wonderful homely feel.
Light your fire – if you’re lucky enough to have an open fire or log burner, then light it for viewings. If it’s the middle of summer then you could place some church candles in the grate and light them instead.
Smells sell – put a few drops of vanilla essence in a bowl and place it in your oven on a very low temperature to create a pleasant, homely smell. Alternatively, lemon juice in water also creates a fresh, welcoming scent.
