What’s the point in getting beautiful professional property photographs if you then miss a huge trick which helps potential buyers? If your home is on the market, have a little look at your property listing on Rightmove (www.rightmove.co.uk). Or if yours isn’t yet on the market then take a look at any example on there from any estate agent. If you click on the photo reel of the property, Rightmove then changes the layout so you have a list of each photo with a label next to each one.
You should HOPEFULLY see a label below each photo, telling you what the photo is of. Found it? Good.
But are your photos labelled correctly like this?

Or does it simply say “1 of 21”….

Hopefully your current estate agent HAS labelled all your photos, if not then they’re really missing a trick!
So why should all your property photos on Rightmove be named?
Well here are three main reasons that your estate agent should be naming your property photos.
- Photos that are named help buyers to imagine the space of your home better. They can easily and quickly marry up your photos with your floor plan which means they know exactly what to expect before they even come to view. The viewing simply becomes confirmation that they really like the property. Sometimes photos can be confusing, especially in a house with quirky rooms or an unusual layout so you’ll make their life easier and avoid any mis-understanding and potential lost viewings by naming the photos clearly. If your buyers know exactly what layout your property offers then you’ll get a much better conversion rate from viewings, resulting in a quicker sale and better offers.
- If your photos aren’t named then your buyers might not realise how much your property has to offer. For example, your property photographer might take a photo of a wonderful view from your garden, perhaps of rolling farmland – a massive selling point I am sure most people would agree. However, if your photo isn’t labelled “View from garden” then it’s simply a photo of a field and it certainly doesn’t mean anything to a potential buyer. Instead, labelled as “View from garden” your buyer is instantly thinking about how wonderful it would be to live in a house with stunning views. Labelling each photo once again helps to make things clearer for potential buyers thus SELLING the benefits your property has to offer.
- Buyers also want all the answers at their fingertips. Life is so fast-paced nowadays and with the internet it means people can get the information they want at the touch of a button. People want to know what each property photo shows, right here and right now. They don’t want to waste time trying to suss out which room / feature they’re looking at.
How difficult is it for your estate agent to name your photos?
It’s not difficult at all! It takes about 30 seconds – whether they’re using estate agent software or they log on to Rightmove directly, it takes seconds to name all your property photos. It’s a small detail that can make a BIG difference and for the sake of a few seconds we know it’s absolutely worth naming it.
